Students making notes for a debate

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an academic activity that is a  duplication of the United Nations. This means that students learn about topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations’ agenda.

The CAS activity involves each member doing research about a country or Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Then, they take on the roles as diplomats for that country or NGO to talk about international concerns to develop solutions to world problems. MUN is a very interesting CAS activity that improves your English while providing you with extra knowledge about the state of countries around the world.

Participants hone their debating, deliberating and consulting skills. The members also have opportunities to win awards and go on a field trip.

Cherie, a student in Year 10, said “Model United Nations helps me build up confidence.”
